Very inspiring and definitely helpful.

I learned about the false self and how it plays out in the mind on a daily basis, and this is why we have to recognize what it is that is guiding us falsely. I do have to read again because to be enlightened with this kind of knowledge is not purely seen right away. I also loved Mr. Finley giving examples when he sets out to make his point clear - not every author of such subjects can do this so nicely. I loved that part of the author's writing. On the other hand the author does get abstract and this required for me to SLOWLY digest the message. I would recommend this book to all my friends, relatives and close acquaintances. This is a prized piece of work on a much needed subject for those who seek a happy life through learning how to let go.

The Secret of Happiness

I feel like the book is mis-titled. It should be titled "The Secret to Happiness - Letting Go".
This book is filled with wonderful instruction about how to let go of all the things that are holding us back from achieving happiness in our lives. The book is well written, easy to understand and filled with stories to illustrate or illuminate the point the author is making.
While it is easy to read, for some people it will take more than one reading to fully grasp the concepts Guy Finley is advocating. The book requires us to adopt a totally different mindset. That does not happen overnight. It requires some indepth study and contemplation. We need to develop an awareness of how we are blocking our quest for happiness - -how we get in our own way and become our own worst enemy.
We all have been programmed with lots of mis-information. We need to re-program our minds. To let go of all these negative thoughts. We must let go of fear, anger, resentment. This book tells us how to let go of all the things that keeps us stuck in our present circumstances.
But it will take accepting these truths and then acting on them to realize the true value of letting go. It is simple, but because of our prior programs which have become ingrained habits, it will not be easy.

Gets boring half way through

I had seen a feel lines and it looked like a good book, had a point to it. And in the beggining it did. But half way through, when you start beleiving that it will teach you something, it just.... stops! And I mean it keeps repeating it self, but doens't actually say how you're supposed to go anywhere. Self help books on the need to see things different there are plenty. And I feel someone who looks for this kid of book, does want to see things different to begin with, the point that never gets answered is HOW? To me that would be the big "secret"behind anything, and the question remais, but with even more doubts after reading this book.
