Once mommy is home and the child sees that mommy is bandaged and bruised, they can become even more worried and inquisitive. Finally, when the bandages come off and mommy looks somewhat different, their confusion may lead to responses that adults may find inappropriate or hard to understand.

Michael Salzhauer, MD is a boardcertified plastic surgeon practicing in Bal Harbour, Florida. He is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery at The University of Miami, and aesthetic surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. He specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face and body. He has performed hundreds of beautiful mommymakeovers during his career. At first, I thought this was a parody of a educational book for kids.

Then, I grasped THEY MEANT IT!

Why didn't they name it "Why Can't I Recognize My Mother Anymore?", or "Understanding Silicone For The Preteen Set"?

MOTHERS---THINK WHAT A TERRIBLE SET OF IDEAS THIS GIVES YOUR DAUGHTERS!

In Dr. Salzhauer's world, it is OK to teach young girls that the only path to self-esteem is to have potentially life-threatening surgery to make their bosoms larger, & thus please a man.
I say--no, it isn't.

Family values for a brave new world

A great way of sugar coating your personality disorders for your developing children! I recommend it along with the book, "Beautifully Bony: a child's guide to embracing mommy's anorexia," and of course the classic, "Doping daddy: a pop-up book about your father's ballooning biceps, and 101 totally cool tips on how to avoid 'roid rage.'" If only all forms of narcissism could be so skillfully repackaged!

My only problem with this book, and the reason why it did not receive more stars, is the way in which the pre-surgery mommy is so attractively illustrated. Why not give "cocoon mommy" a few more folds and sags to represent the sorry tramps who will be reading this book to their children before emerging from their surgery chrysalis? Your kids don't know you're ugly yet, so shouldn't we be teaching them the difference?

AN INTERESTING, UNIQUE WAY TO INTRODUCE A DICKENS CLASSIC TO A YOUNG AUDIENCE

How many of you reading this can remember your days having to go to school and having to read some of the classics written by Charles Dickens and others? I do !!!

I can remember how I had to muddle through the storylines which contained a lot of social implications of society, especially between the haves and have nots. And even though multiple versions of movies have been created telling these stories, they’re still at an adult level.

Being a child of the 1950’s, I now realize my first understanding of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” had been watching a now classic cartoon from 1962, “Mister Magoo’s Christmas Carol.” It appears to me this is what might have inspired the author, Brendan P Kelso, to write this as well as the rest of the books in his series.

The author in this endeavor, which is part of a series, has encapsulated the essence of the story by turning it into a mini-play written for three different size groups of actors. Remember, you can’t teach a child a lesson by hitting them over the head with it; it needs to be an interesting and fun experience; which is why I’ve given this book 5 STARS.

I had originally tried to win a signed copy of this book through a GoodReads giveaway about 15 months, but I didn’t succeed; so using KINLDE Unlimited I’m now to fulfill that previous desire to read this book.

LOVE!

Love love LOVE this book (and the entire series!)! I teach a small class of kids ages 7-11, and this is just what they needed to be introduced to a classic novel like Oliver Twist. I especially love the author's introduction where he explains how he came up with this idea and what the purpose of the book is: "To instill the love of acting and Charles Dickens into the kids. And when you have a passion for something, they will start to teach themselves, with or without school." My students LOVED it and had a lot of fun performing it for their parents. I highly recommend this!

Great way to introduce kids to the classics. Brendan made Oliver Twist funny, entertaining, and a great way for budding actors to show off their skills. Even my 5 year old got to play 3 different parts and totally loved it!

Beautiful book, coffee-table quality

This long-anticipated collection of Maddox's harsh criticism of children's drawings is, unlike the pathetic "artwork" produced by children, no disappointment.

The book itself is a work of art. It's not just a cheaply-printed gag book. All pages are printed in color with a glossy finish. The dust jacket has a slight raised texture for the picture frame.

It has THREE HUNDRED PAGES, so it isn't just a printing of the drawings from the website. Yes, the classics are in there (such as the fire truck on the cover), but most of it is new unseen material.

The drawings being reviewed aren't just printed in the middle of a blank page. Instead, each piece of artwork is set amongst decorative toys appropriate for the topic (e.g., all of the vehicle drawings are surrounded by toy cars and other stuff). Maddox's commentary is neatly printed on legal paper within the image.

A Modest Review of a Masterpiece

It is not often that a work of literature is as controversial as it is cautionary. When Mark Twain penned "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," he illustrated the dangers of racial bias that, at the time, threatened to regress into a pre-Civil War mentality. During an era when the fear of totalitarian rule was near its peak, George Orwell's "1984" provided a glimpse into a future in which human rights were of no consequence. In "I Am Better Than Your Kids," Maddox treads on what is held by many as sacred ground to deliver a prophetic warning about the dangers of overindulging children with undeserved praise.

Our present day culture is quickly becoming a bottleneck to progress. Throughout history, we have grown as a species as the pioneers of previous generations passed their knowledge on to their progeny. Yet, this fundamental attribute of humans that distinguishes us from other animals is overwhelmingly lost on the majority as we observe a world mired by apathy and self-entitlement, spawned from a pervasive lack of appreciation for our journey through time. While it has been said that education begins at home, the author makes the case that perhaps the disingenuousness of parents with regard to their children is a fundamental flaw of our society. The artwork presented in his book is a mere sampling of the vast collective museum showcased on refrigerator doors throughout the civilized world: each new work as indistinguishably bad as the last, serving only to increase entropy as yet another uninspired caricature is hoisted up for all to see. Consequently, true individualism and originality are stifled by the reverberating echo of mouth-breathing ineptitude continuously reinforced by the prevailing, yet mendacious, consensus that everyone is a star. We are witnessing the withering of creativity. The final Renaissance of humanity has come and passed.

Some may criticize his book as a misopedic tirade. Others may disregard it as a frivolous and self-defeating satire that will ephemerally resonate with a juvenile demographic. Please do not subscribe to these single-minded, dismissive trains of thought. When the initial shock has passed, you will realize that "I Am Better Than Your Kids" is a magnum opus - a compilation realized only through years of painstaking work and meticulous editing. While it is undeniably humorous and bold, it contains a brilliant critique of society that is readily apparent to the astute reader amidst the tapestry of profanities. The author's candid approach toward the character conditioning of children is reminiscent of the ancient Spartan agoge system. He seeks to atone for the sins of a generation corrupted by Nickelodeon and MTV - restoring dignity to a world in which human empowerment has been stripped down to a touch-tone vote for a talent show contestant.

In the introduction, Maddox stresses the excessive use of the phrase "good job," proposing that gratuitous praise is the catalyst for the modern-day cesspool of cultural ingenuity. Perhaps such vacant speech has become T.S. Eliot's proverbial whimper proclaiming the end of our world.

This book is not just amusing; it is laugh-out-loud, side-splitting hilarity. I was only thirty pages into it and I had to put it down because I couldn't breathe. It surpasses Alphabet of Manliness and any work Maddox has ever put on his website.

If you're reading this book and didn't laugh, don't bother posting a negative review. Call your doctor and check your medical records because chances are you've had a lobotomy.

A Decent Industry Overview Marred by Incomprehensibly Bad Writing

This book is a useful high-level overview of the digital advertising/marketing space. It offers good insights into certain job functions within that ecosystem, most specifically media planners, media buyers, and ad traffickers. It also offers a good general overview of the core ad types and the core feature set offered by the most popular ad servers. To that end it has proven to be a good purchase for me overall, as I am a creative developer who was hoping to gain a broader understanding of the whole digital advertising ecosystem.

Unfortunately I have 2 major gripes about the book: 1) It's completely useless on a technical level. Don't buy it expecting to gain anything but the most surface level of understanding for how any of the actual gears of the online ad world fit together. This is in no way a technically informative book. 2) This is without a doubt the most difficult book to read I have ever encountered, owing to an overwhelming abundance of grammatical errors, typos, incomplete sentences, and just plain bad writing across the board. Every single page of the book seems to have AT LEAST 2 blatant errors that should have been flagged by an editor. I'm not even a very good writer, and I felt that I found something that was just plain wrong, from a writing perspective, in almost every single paragraph. Overall the writing measures up to perhaps a 10th grade student's level, and I must admit that I was frequently left scratching my head wondering if the author learned English as a second language (and not well learned). It's that bad.

Final word –�as a high level overview of the digital ad space, I'd give it 4 stars. As a technical book, which its title implies it is, I give it 1. The writing, well, that deserves maybe .25. So overall I give it a generous 2 star rating. There is value in this book, as long as you can stomach the atrocious writing and editing and parse the value after trudging through that minefield.

Self-publishing is not an excuse for really bad English

The book provides an interesting but shallow overview of the industry. But the English is SO BAD and with so many mistakes that is difficult at times to follow the ideas. While the author might have experience in the tech side, it is obvious that never worked for an agency or as a marketer. The Marketer perspective is nothing but stereotypes of the profession.
My recommendation to the author - get a real editor. While there might be value in the ideas presented, the language and presentation totally diminish it.

I have been in Ad-Tech space for the last four years specializing designing programmatic Ad Buying algorithms for AdTech companies powered by machine learning & big data analysis. This book has been suggested to me by a colleague. I've found values in the book specially the efforts the author put together to cover the Ad-Tech spectrum from the Publishers end to the Advertisers end. I think the book is valuable specially for non-heavy technical people who want to enter the Ad-Tech & need to get a better understanding of the space such as who the players are and how different tech pieces work together to deliver the ad serving services.

Due to my heavy tech background, I would rather to see deeper technical materials & discussions in the book. But, that's only my personal preference and probably doesn't reflect the audience set that the author has been targeting in this book.
