The Pleasures of Spring

What an exciting book this turned out to be! It has mystery, suspense, some kinky sexy scenes, and the greatest gift of all an HEA!

Meet Roz Spring, she is a young lady who has been through so much in her life, but she hasn't let misery destroy her happiness. She is a con artist who reminds me of Robin Hood. She only cons people who are really greedy and who are unscrupulous. Roz is also a twin, and her sister Sinead was raised in the lap of luxury with her uncle Tim O'Sullivan. Roz always resented her sisters good fortune, and she hated her O'Sullivan relatives. They left her with her father, and never looked back.

Roz grew up with a strong independent streak and learned how to not only take care of herself, but those less fortunate around her. In her profession Roz has always managed to be a few steps ahead of the authorities, but she also needed to stay hidden from a disgraced Navy Seal. Roz witnesses him murder an art dealer, and now she is the only witness that can identify him as the murder.

Interpol wants to take Roz into protective custody, but Roz knows that if she goes with them then the murder will surely find her. Once again she is on the run, but Roz never counted on Andy McTavish, he is working for a high profile security firm who also just happens to be owned by Roz's twins husband Niall. Roz's twin desperately wants to be reunited with her sister, and her husband will do everything he can to make her dreams come true.

Of course Andy is hunting Roz for different reasons, he is attracted to Roz and he would like nothing better than to get her into his playroom! Andy is a Dom, but he realizes that Roz is a Domme. He can only imagine the fun that is to be had in getting her sexy body to submit to him. As Roz and Andy pretend to be engaged all there rules and boundaries go through a paradigm shift. One minute Andy is on top. The next Roz, and all times are hot, hot, hot!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
Rox and Andy's story had a little bit of everything that I like in this genre: crime, suspense, secrets, lies, passion, family drama and hot romance. The characters were very well developed and the plot was exciting. When you have two dominate people who lead secret lives and avoid love at all costs, it's bound to get interesting....and boy was it. This pleasurable read was hard to put down. I will definitely read more from this talented writer who really knows how to tell a tale well.

OMG, I loved this book and can't wait for another book from Lori!
If you love hot sexy Dragons wanting a mate, you'll love this story! It has the right amount action, sex and intrigue!
Jasmine never wanted to be a Dragon's mate, she has had Nightmare from childhood about the winged beast! The last thing she wanted was to be mated to one, but when a treaty between Human and Dragons was reached, she was offered as a volunteer, only she was sacrifice, she didn't volunteer. so she did the only thing she could do is Run!
I am not going to give you anymore than that, Hopefully you'll read Lori book, I found it to one of though books, I couldn't put down until I finished!! let's just say it was a late night!!

I enjoyed this book but there were a couple of things that could've made it better. A little more info/backstory about the dragons, SPOILER-what the heck happened to the girl in the cage at the end? Did they let her out, who was she, is she going to end up with her own pair of dragons that will make what she's been thru at least a little bit worth it? Sorry, I just hate not having important bits wrapped up in a book and not knowing if there's another one on the way with further info.

I love a strong woman who is prepared to protect herself from what life throws her way- even if that just means having an accessible escape hatch. The world is created with dynamics and politics that have been going on long before the story began for us. But, Lori Whyte has no problems bring us in and not leaving the reader feeling like there is a whole level of this world that we are not privy to. I can wait to read more!!

I was not expecting the end.

Whether you believe or not doesn't matter, the fun is in the reading. I think this is my favourite of Victoria Laurie's Abigail Cooper Psychic Eye series. To be honest, I haven't read many but the conflicts and characterizations in Doom With A View are so hilarious, yet serious at the same time. When Abby is teamed up with an FBI hardcore unbeliever as the lead investigator and her so cool PI partner Candice, you just know things are going to get volatile. But with three missing teens, whose parents are politicians, there is no time for personal feelings. This is a fast-paced suspense, especially in regard to the political angle, and the urgency of Abby's psychic feelings. Not to make little of the case, when I say hilarious I am refering to the attitudes of the three main players, not the case itself. Abby is so clued in with her "crew" as she calls it, I felt that when they don't seem to tell her anything she becomes very unsure of herself, but fortunately her personal "live" friends are there to upright her canoe so to speak. This includes her live-in boyfriend who is also an FBI agent, but one who's got her back. I loved this book!
